Produced by Heritage Partners of Cherokee County, the annual event began in 2001 with the Heritage Walk and a group of 100 enthusiastic walking tour guests. Last year's festival events drew more than 3,000 people and organizers are gearing up for an even larger crowd on September 4.

Network TV (lack of ) coverage of the Democratic Convention
Posted by johndilbeck on Wednesday, July 28 2004 at 8:05 AM Category: ramblings
The citizens of the United States are facing one of our most important decisions this year, and I find it unbelievable that the broadcast TV networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) have abandoned their public duty and are showing only three hours of the Democratic National Convention.
I'm assuming they're planning do do something similar at the Republican National Convention -- i.e., not show it.
They, and their affiliates, are licensed to transmit their programming on the public airwaves and they have a duty to present programming in the public good.
So, what did they show last night? Nothing but those dumb "reality" shows and re-runs. Where's the public good in that?
For weeks, they've hyped the importance of the political process and the two conventions, and now only the cable channels are showing them -- and not everyone has access to those channels.
This is just unbelievable.

JohnDilbeck.com Art Store has been updated
Posted by johndilbeck on Tuesday, July 13 2004 at 7:25 AM Category: art_suggestions
As a part of a general overhaul of JohnDilbeck.com, I've completed updating my Art Store. As you probably know, websites are always a work in progress and this is the latest version of this section of JohnDilbeck.com that promotes products available from Art.com.
Art.com offers a huge selection of fine art paintings, posters and photographs that cover a wide range of categories.
As part of this update, I've added a search box on every page of the Art Store where you can search through Art.com, Amazon.com, and Google.com. Look towards the bottom of any page in the Art Store for these search boxes.
My store shows only a small sample of the items that are available from Art.com, so if you don't see what you want, the search box will help you find what you're looking for.
Among the items you'll see in my Art Store are the following:
Art by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
Posters of Johnny Depp, Mel Gibson, and Elvis Presley.
Posters related to Disney products, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Monsters, Inc., Spiderman, Star Trek, Star Wars, X-Files, and X-Men.
Posters of Ireland.
Posters featuring nature and the outdoors, including bears, birds, butterflies, cats, deer, dinosaurs, dogs, dolphins, doves, eagles, flowers, frogs, horses, landscapes, manatees, pelicans, rainbows, rivers, reptiles, roses, seagulls, sunsets, various wildlife, and wolves.
There is a section on poster art and World War II art.
Other categories include angels, aviation, castles, cowboys, dragons, fairies and pixies, fantasy art, inspirational posters, kings, lighthouses, mermaids, motivational posters, princes, princesses, queens, space art, unicorns, warriors, waterfalls, and wizards.
I invite you to visit my Art Store and purchase products that suit your interests.
Posters, photographs and paintings make fine gifts.
Custom framing is available.
Feeling better and getting back to work
Posted by johndilbeck on Tuesday, July 13 2004 at 7:08 AM Category: ramblings
It's been awhile since I have been able to work on this site. During the third week of June, I suddenly started running a fever and for the next few days I alternated between burning up and shaking with the chills. For about three days, I didn't get anything done but sleep.
I'm not sure what it was, but for about three weeks, it was all I could do to get anything done and just couldn't focus on working on any of my websites.
I can't complain. For about 50 years, I have been extraordinarily healthy, and these things are bound to happen.
Now that I'm feeling better, I'll be doing some major updates to JohnDilbeck.com and introducing some new sites in a couple of months.
It feels good to be back!
