Site Build It! 2 for 1 sale extended
Posted by johndilbeck on Sunday, December 28 2003 at 10:06 PM Category: sitesell
Due to overwhelming requests to extend the 2 for 1 sale for Site Build It!, Ken Evoy has agreed to extend the sale until January 5 until midnight.
Originally scheduled to end on December 26, the sale, which offers two years for the price of one, was such a success that affiliates and customers both asked for an extension so that more of you can take advantage of this special offer.
Find your type of business and see how Site Build It can help you promote your services and products on the Internet.
How much traffic is your site getting? How much traffic is your main competitor's site getting?
I challenge you to take the Get to the Alexa Point Test. Without traffic, a website is useless, and Site Build It excels at generating traffic.

On one day, they won't say which day, they set a record with more than 2.1 million products ordered and shipped around the world. That is approximately 24 items purchased per second.
On December 15, they set a record of over 630,000 shoppers on their website in a single hour.
Do not wait...

Testing Coranto
Posted by johndilbeck on Saturday, December 27 2003 at 6:06 AM Category: ramblings
I'm in the process of switching from NewsPro to Coranto for managing the news on this site and several others.
NewsPro was an excellent system, but had become obsolete. Coranto starts where NewsPro left off and continues to add new features.
One of the main reasons I wanted to make the change was so my ramblings could be syndicated on other sites using RSS and XML. Soon, by adding a couple of lines of javascript to any web page, my ramblings can be syndicated on any site. Additionally, I'll be dividing my postings into multiple categories, each of which will be available for syndication.
I'm hoping to get this working the first week of January.
Becky Arrives Just In Time for the Holidays

Historical Story Set in 1840 Valleytown a Special Gift for Children of All Ages
Heritage Partners is pleased to sponsor the arrival of Becky and the Robber of Buckhorn Ridge, an historical children's story set in Cherokee County's 1840 Valleytown.
Locally authored by Jean Bravick and illustrated by Linda Miller, the story captures the life and times of early pioneers of the far western North Carolina mountains. Offering a perspective on local history rarely found in children's books, Becky offers adventure, intrigue and some timeless lessons for readers of all ages. Becky is a chance to share your community's heritage with others this holiday season. Copies of the book can be found on the shelves of The Curiosity Shop Bookstore downtown at the Shoppes of Murphy, and this week at the Main Street Gallery in Andrews. The soft cover first edition is offered for $10.00 per copy.
According to the author's wishes, all proceeds go toward funding the nonprofit works of Heritage Partners, the grassroots organization of volunteers building on the heritage of Cherokee County, North Carolina's first, last and finest place to be. Projects sponsored by Heritage Partners of Cherokee County include the annual Heritage Walk & Festival and Holiday Taste Historic Home Tour, the Murphy River Walk project, and the upcoming 25 Destinations Within 25 Miles heritage tourism guide series scheduled for release this Spring.
For more information visit www.heritagepartners.org, e-mail info@heritagepartners.org, or call Barbara Hughes at (828) 837-6821. To order copies by mail:
Send a check for $10.00 each - plus $3 shipping for up to 4 copies - to: Heritage Partners, P.O. Box 1152, Murphy, NC 28906
Experimenting with syndication using RSS and javascript
Posted by johndilbeck on Thursday, December 18 2003 at 2:52 PM Category: (default)
Last night, I started experimenting with syndicating this weblog using RSS and javascript.
It is my intention to make this weblog available to anyone who would like to put it on a website using a few lines of javascript.
Of course, I know I'm probably the only one who will use it and I want to be able to have a page on all of my websites with my current ramblings while only having to update this site once and letting it flow to the others automagically.
Hopefully, I'll get it working in the next day or so.

The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area
Posted by johndilbeck on Thursday, December 4 2003 at 5:21 AM Category: (default)
On November 3, Congress passed a bill which is part of the Department of the Interior's funding bill that establishes the westernmost counties of North Carolina as The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area.
You can go to the site linked to above to learn more about this and to find contact information.
The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area includes the following counties: Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, McDowell, Macon, Madison, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Surry, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin and Yancey.
Other heritage areas across the United States include the Shenandoah Valley, the Erie Canalway, the Hudson River Valley, Yuma Crossing and the Tennessee Civil War heritage areas.
Cindi Herr, staff writer for the Cherokee Scout newspaper in Murphy, NC, says in an article appearing in the December 3rd edition, "The designation will help in celebrating the natural and cultural assets of the region, and will also be a tool for economic growth and a method for promoting the region.
"Core areas of focus include heritage tourism and recreation, new business development and education, and historical revitalization."
