I'd like to announce a new forum for visitors to JohnDilbeck.com.

You can see it at http://JohnDilbeck.com/forum

When you register to participate, please use your real first and last name and not a handle. Once you've registered, you'll see more of the forum and you'll have access to read and post to the boards.

Want to talk about the business of arts and crafts? Do you want to share your expertise in marketing or learn from someone else? Announce your website where you sell your handcrafted items. Announce events in Cherokee County or Clay County, NC, and more.

The forum is open and you're invited. It'll take some time to get things rolling, and here's your chance to get in the first word.

Bookstore update completed
Posted Wednesday, February 26, 2003 by johndilbeck

It has been a big undertaking, but I just completed changing my bookstore over to Amazon.com's version 2 of their web services access. This means that I can now offer you more information, and usually quicker access.

Now, you can find even more of what's available on Amazon.com, and still do it much faster than you can on Amazon's own site.

I want to thank those of you who have been purchasing through my store. I appreciate your support and I'll continue to search for and tell you about interesting books that I think you might find useful.

There are still a thousand pages of the site that need to be updated, but that should go quicker than the bookstore did.

If you find a link that doesn't work, please let me know and I'll fix it as soon as I can.

Thanks!

Bookstore Update is in Progress
Posted Friday, February 21, 2003 by johndilbeck

For the next couple of weeks, I'll be modifying my bookstore to take advantage of Amazon.com's version 2 of their web services.

I'm taking this slow and steady and you'll see that some pages in the bookstore will look and operate a bit differently than what you've gotten used to here. You can browse and purchase from any of the pages with no problems.

I'm working diligently to make the transition as quickly as possible without introducing any errors in the process. Things should settle down by March 1 or so.

Thanks for visiting.

Sites updated
Posted Monday, February 17, 2003 by johndilbeck

It's been an intense six weeks of work, but I'm making progress.

During January, I moved all my hosted sites to a new server and I'm happy that I did. I'm getting more features and a lower cost, but the biggest difference is the responsiveness of the new hosting service's support people. They've been quick and accurate in responding to all my requests and questions. It has been a good decision. AssortedInternet is the company I choose to host all my sites and I'm happy to recommend them to you. See "Why I chose AssortedInternet above the rest" posted on January 22, 2003, for more information.

In the last few weeks, I've completely revamped both GeorgiaDragRacing.com and ArchAvary.com. New sections and features have been added to both of them, and I just now completed upgrading both of their bookstores so that they use Amazon.com's version 2 web services. It offers features not yet available in my bookstore on JohnDilbeck.com, but I'll be updating my bookstore over the next couple of weeks or so to version 2. You'll find books on racing, muscle cars, and performance engines in the drag racing bookstore and on art, wildlife, nature, jewelry and more in Arch's bookstore. You're invited to visit each of them.

More to come when I have time.

Bookstore is working correctly, again.
Posted Friday, February 7, 2003 by johndilbeck

It appears as if Amazon.com has found and corrected the database feed for my bookstore.

I did quite a few checks tonight and everything seems to be working as it should, again.

Did you know that you can purchase not just books, but also videos, dvds, music cds, and much much more from this bookstore? I've added many pages for various arts and crafts disciplines that you may find interesting, and if I don't have something you're looking for, try searching in the search box on every page of the bookstore.

If you have problems, or if I can offer any help, feel free to contact me.

Problems with my bookstore
Posted Monday, February 3, 2003 by johndilbeck

Since yesterday, Amazon.com has been experiencing problems with the data feed I use to power all of my bookstore.

Please note that the reviews shown for a particular book may not be for that book (or other product), so don't let it confuse you too much.

Amazon.com is aware of the problem and is working to correct it.

You can still purchase from the store. Just be sure to double-check that the product you select is added to your shopping cart correctly.

We are sorry for the disruption.

Shuttle Columbia lost on reentry
Posted Sunday, February 2, 2003 by johndilbeck

I didn't get much work done yesterday, as I watched the news develop on the loss of the Columbia. It was a sad and tragic accident.

Our hearts go out to their families and co-workers.
