Do you know The Secret?

posted February 10th, 2007 posted posted by John Dilbeck

Something interesting has been happening over the last year or so.

When looking for places to promote my businesses, I found a new social networking site called Powerful Intentions and set out to create a presence there. Come visit my Powerful Intentions profile, if you would like.

At the time, I was not aware of the Law of Attraction and had no real interest in it. Now, this is not true for my life as a whole, just for my focus last year.

Many years ago, I was very interested in things related to manifesting our own reality and spent quite a bit of time learning and trying various things.

Now, fast forward to last October or November…

My friend, Linda Miller, was talking about “The Secret” and I started seeing it everywhere I went, especially on Powerful Intentions.

I learned about Abraham/Hicks and read one of the books. I started thinking about manifesting reality rather than working so hard to make it happen.

I got a copy of The Secret in December and didn’t know what to think about it the first time I watched it. I liked it better the second time, and I plan to watch it a third time this afternoon.

Last Thursday, I watched Oprah’s show on The Secret movie and book, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot since the show.

There are a couple of forums on Powerful Intentions where you can learn more about The Secret and the Law of Attraction. Join the discussions or just lurk, as you desire.

To join in the discussion, I’ve added a new section to my A Year From Now Forum dedicated to discussing The Law of Attraction.

I am inviting people who want to discuss these topics to come to my forum and join in the discussion.

If you haven’t seen The Secret, you can purchase a copy from Powerful Intentions.

What do you think?

Act on your dream!,

Learn about building a profitable website with our free courses.

posted October 30th, 2004 posted posted by John Dilbeck

The big lie about the Internet is that it’s easy to make money. Just put up a website and everyone will come and buy what you offer and you can retire rich with no effort.

It’s just not that easy. Anyone can put up a website in a few hours or days, but most of those sites die a slow death because of a lack of visitors and buyers.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way. The key to a successful website is good quality content. People on the Internet are not searching for you, they’re searching for information to help them solve a problem or accomplish a goal.

By providing that information in a format that is easily indexed by the search engines, those same search engines will send hundreds or thousands of visitors every month to your site for free. You don’t have to keep advertising once you learn how to build a site that provides what people are searching for.

I learned about Ken Evoy when I first bought his ebook, Make Your Site Sell!. That was the best $17 I ever spent. He updated the book in 2002 to over 1500 pages of quality information and raised the price to $30. Now, the 2005 edition is very close to release and will be available at the link earlier in this paragraph.

Over the next four years, he and his team have built the best web design, website hosting, and website promotion service on the planet, and they sell this service for only about one dollar per day. I’m using Site Build It! to build A Year From Now and I’m seeing a steady increase in visitors every month, even though I won’t go into full development on that site for another month.

I love the products that Ken sells, and I’ve arranged to give away — free — several of his ebooks, all of which are in Acrobat PDF format. You can download any of the courses listed below at no charge.

The Affiliate Masters Course is what helped me finally start earning affiliate commissions. Now, I earn 100% of my income from affiliate marketing.

The Net Auctions course sold for $30 just last year, and now it is offered free.

If you sell a service, the Service Sellers Masters Course will help you learn to effectively marketing your service online.

Even if you decide to go another way with your website, there is valuable information in all of these ebooks to help you be more successful with your online marketing efforts.

I’m happy to be able to offer them to you.

New Website: AYearFromNow.com - Act on your dream

posted August 15th, 2004 posted posted by John Dilbeck

I’ve just opened a new website at AYearFromNow.com and I invite you to drop in and look around.

This website is devoted to identifying dreams, determining what they mean, planning on how to make them real, and then acting on your dream.

For years, I went through my daily routines with no real dreams. Just sleep, wake up, eat, work, sleep, and over and over and over.

Earlier this year, I decided this is no way to live. So, I spent some time identifying what my biggest dreams are and I’ve settled on one major dream and I’m working to set it into motion.

A year from now, I expect to have made substantial progress towards realizing that dream.

I invite you to join in the process. Working together we can all achieve our dreams. I believe that ordinary people who work to achieve a common dream can achieve extraordinary results.

Drop in and check it out. Let me know what you think.

Setting up my weblogs is complete

posted January 11th, 2004 posted posted by John Dilbeck

About two weeks ago, while working on one of my websites hosted by Site Build It!, I wanted to create a weblog for maintaining current information about telecommunications. While it is possible to create a weblog, of sorts, using Site Build It, it wasn’t what I’d become accustomed to using Radio Userland or News Pro.

I decided it was time to investigate the state of the art concerning RSS and syndication, and that led me to the newest version of Radio Userland and the replacement for News Pro, Coranto. Both are heavily invested in RSS and XML and it was time to do some updating and building of new infrastructure before I could make progress on my original goal.

Now, I’ve installed Coranto on JohnDilbeck.com and DilbeckConsulting.com. I created a new weblog at blogger.com. I’ve updated some of the settings at johndilbeck.editthispage.com. I downloaded, installed, tested, and purchased a license for Radio Userland version 8. Now, I’m ready.

At this point, I create my weblogs (also called blogs) using Radio Userland, which automatically uploads to I Succeed By Helping You Succeed and to John Dilbeck And Friends. (Links updated in September, 2006, to point to current sites.)

Then, it’s a fairly quick procedure to copy the entries from my original Ramblings site to it’s new host at http://JohnDilbeck.com/news/ where it’s powered by Coranto, and to my blogger.com blog at (link deleted). I’m running most of the entries concurrently on all of the weblogs, and I don’t know if I’ll continue doing that or if each will take a direction of its own in the future.

Either way, the background work is completed. I have to add a few more pages to several sites where I’ll use syndication via javascript to show portions of the blogs on pages that will be automatically updated with no extra effort on my part once they’re in place.

In a couple of months, I’ll know how this is working and how well it suits my original desires.

Now, it’s time to turn my attention back to marketing and selling.
