Web Design

This is going to be short and sweet.

If you're trying to sell something on the Internet, make your site easy to read and make it easy for anyone -- regardless of the browser they use and the computer system they have -- to navigate around your site. As we get older, our eyes have a harder time distinguishing between certain colors and textures, and I find myself leaving sites that I would have like a few years ago. High contrast and muted colors will work best.

I try to practice what I preach in this area, and some folks don't like my sites. That's okay with me, because lots more tell me how easy it is to find their way around my sites. I hope you do, too.

I tried using some javascript last year, and I've cut it way back this year. I still have to use some to accomplish the things I want to accomplish, but I try to be sensitive to the needs of older computers and older computer users. The web isn't just for teenagers and young adults anymore.

So, you'll find no flashy graphics on my site. That probably isn't what you're looking for anyway. It's appropriate for some sites, but I truly believe that it detracts from selling things, especially 'down-home' items such as you'll find on most arts and crafts sites.

As someone once said, 'Less is more.'

Web Designers, Graphic Designers, and more

After months of searching, I haven't found a web design company that I can recommend over any of the others, but I have located a company that has hundreds of free lancers bidding on projects. This is a good way to list your project and have others bid on doing it for you.

Freelance Project Database - The world's largest database of web design, graphic design, and admin projects! Click to see for yourself! - If you are a free lancer wanting to provide services to motivated buyers, register here and bid on projects that suit your talents. If you are a buyer looking to hire a free lancer for a project, click here to offer your project up for bid.
