In THE MAC NIGHT OWL NEWSLETTER, Issue #81, Gene Steinberg asks the question, "ARE COMPUTERS ALWAYS FASTER THAN HUMANS?"

He proceeds to say, "It really as no surprise to me when I watched an intriguing demonstration on CNN the other day. During Jeff Greenfield's nightly commentary program, a video featuring a bakeoff between a PC and a typewriter was shown. The task was simple--address an envelope. We saw someone insert an envelope into a vintage IBM Selectric typewriter (probably little different from the one I used to own). In about 45 seconds or so, the envelope was pulled from the typewriter, all ready. At the same time, they switched to the PC user, standing impatiently in front of a printer, waiting for the envelope to emerge. When it did, the address was in the wrong place!

I just learned that, earlier this month, eBay instituted more restrictive policies for linking to external sites from an eBay auction listing. If you're a seller or plan to be a seller there, you should probably check out the listings policies. This will mean some changes to my traffic-building strategy for the websites I manage, but it will also cut down on a lot of garbage you have to wade through when looking through the listings on eBay. ** JD **
