Infind search engine. For some time, I've been using InFind as my first attempt to find anything on the Internet. Almost always, I find what I'm looking for in the first few returned links.

If you're ever tired of searching for something only to have to wade through hundreds or thousands of links, many of which are not relevant to your search, you might want to give InFind a try.

I'm very pleased with their service, and now they're beta testing some improvements. Here's a little information about their service from their FAQ page:

How does InFind work?
InFind calls out in parallel twenty of the best search engines on the Internet, merges the results, removes redundancies, and clusters the results into neat understandable groupings.

Each of these search engines is automatically called in parallel, and retrieves the maximum number of results each engine will allow. Therefore, without InFind, it would take you twenty searches by hand, and still you couldn't produce the huge list of results that InFind does....

This is where "clustering" comes in. After retrieving this huge list results, InFind clusters the search results. Clustering is basically a process of putting similar items together. While other search engines sort their results by how well they match the query, InFind gets all the best results, and then groups the related items together....

How come you don't provide a means to add my site to your database?
Because we're a meta search engine we don't have a database. To be visible from our site you have to submit your site to Internet search engines.

What is the beta site about?
We are just now starting to upgrade the InFind search engine. http://www.infind.com is now about two years old. There are a whole raft of improvements planned for InFind some of which are user visible and the rest are not. The beta site http://infind2.infind.com is our test bed for these upgrades. The benefit to you is that by using the beta site you will get access to the newer versions sooner as well as being able to give us feedback on new features. The benefit to us is the extra testing that having real users provides as well as receiving your feedback.

My advice on SmallBusiness.com. A few days ago, I recommended SmallBusiness.com's website as a good place to receive and give advice on running a small business. Lately, I've been giving some advice there. If you'd like to read any of it, this link takes you to my profile page and a list of the advice I've given.

If you agree, or disagree, with anything I said, feel free to comment either on that site, or right here. If I'm wrong, convince me how to rectify my viewpoint. I want to learn and grow, too.

Check it out when you get a few minutes. All the articles are fairly short -- a miracle for someone like me who takes 30 pages just to clear my throat before I start speaking. ;^)   4:32:30 PM

All about business cards. Did you know there was a website about Business Card Design? Check out the glossary of printing terms at < http://www.businesscarddesign.com/printers.htm > If you don't know embossing from flossing, this is where to look. (And it's written from the buyer's viewpoint, not the printer's, so it's not hard to understand.)

The site owner's goal is to make BusinessCardDesign.com the largest and most complete resource for business cards on the Internet; a website that people will return to again and again, and that other business websites will recommend to their visitors.

(It looks like it worked; here's my recommendation. JD)   2:33:13 PM
